Anyone think this could be a winter single after LTBL? I think its good enough and it would be nice to have a bonus single in the charts. We will probably be waiting a long time for the next one otherwise.

Not if people are going to abbreviate it like that... holy shit, that's acronym overkill.

My guess is that "Who Put the Weight..." is going on the new B-sides compilation album and probably become the lead single off of it.

I don't have any info about it.But no doubt that this song has potential to be a single. Maybe I'm too happy with this song, but I'm thinking that it's better than any of the songs in the album.

Most soundtracks do release 1 or 2 songs as a single. Maybe not a traditional single into stores. But if the movie does well I could see a music video with clips of the movie incorporated into it. The exposure for doing soundtracks is huge. I remember Noel got offered The Crow and turned it down saying any songs he writes will be on his bands albums not a soundtrack. Maybe he's relaized what a good opportunity it could be.

Yeah, the STP song Big Empty was huge from the soundtrack. That was on the soundtrack and their album.

I kind of wonder if Noel has snuck Stop The Clocks out under a different name.

i wonder who played the drums... it doesn't sound like Zak at all. i don't think it's single material but everyone has their own opinion, although it is a great song!

I wouldn't want it to be a single. I love the 'hidden gems' aspect of Oasis.

Great song, absolutely love it! its not a whatever though....whatever was supposed to be on a album, this was never gonna be on any album which means its not a big release, and i bet in the US(if the film even hits theaters which i doubt because I have seen no promotion) people wont even recognize noel's voice and put it together that its an oasis song. it won't get released

Is it on the Radio 1 playlist or did it only get played once?

whatever was not supposed to be on an album. when noel was picked up from Vegas by Mark Coyle (i believe it was him) during the 94 tour, he tried to convince him that if he was gonna go out, might as well go out on top with a killer single so they went into the studio in Texas to record the b-sides to Whatever and plan it as a farewell single. Somewhere along the line, Noel regained his love for the band and there you have it.

i have a question. Do singles come out for bside compilations? When oasis released masterplan, did they release bside singles as well? And what bbsides when on those singles if so?

I can't stop listening to the track. Definitely should have been on the album. Would be nice to see them release it, maybe an EP?

I thought that Whatever was supposed to be on the album, but they would have had to give royalties to Bowie or something, because of the similarities to Young Dudes... doesn't all add up, though, because whatever would NOT have fit on DM... whatever was not supposed to be on an album. when noel was picked up from Vegas by Mark Coyle (i believe it was him) during the 94 tour, he tried to convince him that if he was gonna go out, might as well go out on top with a killer single so they went into the studio in Texas to record the b-sides to Whatever and plan it as a farewell single. Hakim, Aquiesce was released as a video and radio single for The Masterplan. They didn't release it as a single in stores, but for promotion there was a music video for it.

although "whatever" was included in some versions of DM. I've seen the Mexican release and it was the 12th track

Nope, while written very early in Noel's career Whatever was not intended for Definitely Maybe at all. The b-sides were recorded with going out on top being the objective and then as the band got in better spirits was planned for release to be an X-Mas #1. As stated previously, it's been tacked on in a few different countries to re-releases of Definitely Maybe.

I think the song would be a great single, but I doubt it will ever happen.... but if a new of album of b sides will be released the song should definitely be in...
