Oasis have been announced as headliners at a new series of gigs in America, working under the banner, "Across The Pond".
The Gallagher brothers, who are currently making a determined push to break into the US market, are expected to headline one of two shows at the start of October.
They're likely to be joined by the Pixies as the chief draws at the concerts, which take place simultaneously at Keyspan Park, Brooklyn and Richmond County Bank Ballpark in Staten Island, N.Y on October 1 and 2.
Alongside Oasis and the Pixies, The Killers, Beck, Gang Of Four, Belle & Sebastian and the New York Dolls are all lined-up to appear, with organisers promising a "staggering" line-up.
In other Oasis news, tickets for the Gallagher brothers end of year rock extravaganza, "Noise And Confusion '05", sold-out this morning in a matter of hours.
The show, which takes place on December 10 at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in Wales, features Oasis, Foo Fighters, Razorlight and The Coral.

there isnt even a website up yet for the festival..its gonna be tough to get tickets though..keyspan can only hold at most 8,000 seated so I'm guessing they'll open up the field for gen admission. I can't imagine it'll be any less than $70 a day. On a related note, would an Oasis show, BRMC show, and this festival be overkill for a 5 day period? Any thoughts?

Googling on the event, some message board has a girl that works for a promoter. She claims clearchannel has the rights to the domain name of www.acrossthepondnyc.com It's not up and running yet though. Also claims Village Voice will have a full page spread on Aug 4th and the rumoured line-up for SI is Oasis, Jet, The Killers, Keane and Kasabian with Beck, Pixies, Shins and Gang of Four in Brooklyn.

I think Paul Weller plays NYC the last week of September. He'd fit this line-up nicely.

More News from BIllboard:
Some of the top names in rock have signed on for the inaugural Across the Pond concerts, which will be held simultaneously at Keyspan Park in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Richmond County Bank Ballpark in Staten Island, N.Y., Billboard.com can reveal. Both venues will host shows on Oct. 1-2, with the Pixies, Oasis, the Killers and Beck set to appear on yet-to-be-determined bills.
Other early confirmations for Across the Pond include Gang Of Four, Jet, Belle & Sebastian and the New York Dolls. "The complete lineup of talent will be staggering," says Jim Glancy, president of show promoter Ron Delsener Presents.
A discount will be available for fans purchasing tickets to more than one show; fans can also opt to attend a single concert.
Across the Pond joins the just announced Download Festival as new entrants to the American festival market. That event will be held Oct. 8 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif., and feature the Killers, Modest Mouse, Doves and the Arcade Fire, among others.

I wonder if this will be one of those festivals where all the acts will play both venues. Swapping nights or something. Chance to see Oasis 2 times?

I doubt it...I think Oasis will headline one night then The Pixies the following night...I hope it works out that way coz I really dont have much money to throw around for both nights...Tix will prolly be like $100 or sommat.

Yeah, I hear ya about the money. Plus Oasis are playing on the 29th and 30th in Baltimore and Columbus. I can't see them doing 4 nights in a row, let alone 3. They'll probably heradline on Oct.2nd.

I'm guessing they'll try to do a Letterman/Conan appearance and maybe SNL as well while in town. Also, they'll probably do a Leno appearance while on the West Coast. Could see a big bump in sales if they play their cards right.

Could see a big bump in sales if they play their cards right. Well, Letterman doesnt tape on Fridays while Conan doesn't tape on Mondays...Oasis are in the area starting on the 29th (Thur) thru Oct. 2nd (Sun)...Chances are they won't be doing any east coast late night shows...Pitty I really would like to go if they did.

They could always stick around a few more days of course . Unless they've got some more pressing stuff to worry about..I'd think the chance to sell an extra 15k albums with a tv appearance would be worth a day or two more in NYC, which is hardly a bad thing to begin with.
