Now don't take that title as something bad, i don't mean it sounds exactly like blurs last album but there's definitley a similarity in its stripped down production and shift in style(for the better in my book), Like blurs last album i think this oasis album will be there most musically embraced album(by magazines and musicians alike) it won't be heralded as major upturn in music like DM or won't sell knowhere near WTSMG but i think it will be talked about as a welcome return for a genuine super group that are'nt resting on there laurels(not that we fans think like this, but the fickle press and casual fans do) I really think this is a brilliant album, and there most musically creative so far, welcome back boys cheers doggboy p.s. I have to say including the b'sides i reckon liam's collection of tracks are the best on the album.

I don't think it sounds like Blur, but it does sound fantastic. And Liam's are some of the best. But Importance of Being Idel, Mucky Fingers, and LTBL are some great Noel ones too. HELL They all rule

Maybe i should'nt have put the blur comparison in there but i think the way both bands went with there latest albums have many similarities in production and musical direction not the actual sound itself. Great album though, how good is GGTIA? im loving that bastard ;D
cheers

For the last time i don't mean it sounds like Blur, for fucks sake. Do people just read a portion of the post there reading then get all excited and decide to write about what they think they read and not the actual question

I think your Blur point has some mileage. It is a similar change in direction, without sounding like Blur.
P.S Some of you who come on and state it is better than DM after a hand full of listens are talking out of your arses. DM still sounds fresh after 11 years and thousnads of listens. Make comparisons of this one when in ten years you are still fucking off your neighbours with Meaning Of Soul, as I have done with Columbia for the last ten

I also agree that as of yet it is'nt better(or as good) as either DM or WTSMG and to be honest i don't think it will be, Oasis will never better those 2 albums IMO which is'nt a bad thing cos there both timeless classics, Dylan never bettered "Blood on the Tracks" The Beatles never bettered "Revolver" and The Stones never bettered "Exhile on main street" these were all classics that set the benchmark of what to compare/aspire to and Oasis' 1st 2 albums fall into that category!(I also think Coldplays "A rush of blood to the head" will go on to be heralded as a classic aswell.) Cheers doggboy

The only place that seems fascinated with Revolver is the UK. Sgt.Pepper, Abbey Road and The White Album are all ranked higher in American polls of the greatest albums of all-time by both rock critics and fans. I've always though Revolver was overrated. Heck, the three albums that came before Revolver were better.

Cheers doggboy you are sadly mistaken. " revolver" is the poorest album between rubber soul and abbey road. exile on main street is boring. revolver has nowhere near the content of rubbel soul, sgt. peppers, the white album or abbey road. i bought exile on main street. its crap

Even though Revolver is a classic , no doubt , Rubber Souls shits all over it. As far as Exile on Main Street , that's gotta b one of the most boring albums ever made. The Stones were at their best in the 60's , had some good one off hits in the 70's & then Kaput! There are very few albums that u can listen to all the way through completely , there are very few bands that you can listen to consistently without getting bored , irritated or distracted. Oasis are NOT one of those bands.

To be honest m8 oasis are one of the only bands that i can listen to(any album) and not get bored or skip a track, you may think "oh he's just saying that cos he's a big oasis fan" but it's the truth i like all there material, the only other band off the top of my head that i never get bored with or skip a track is The Kings Of Leon, there 1st album is up there with DM as one of the best debut albums of all time and Aha shake heartbreak break is an immense follow up(2 of the best albums of the last 10 years) Cheers doggboy

"a blur"? why do blur get that title as if its soemhting completely innovative and original to strip down production and try sodemthing new!! most bands either break up or are forced to try a different direction. i mean i agree that oasis have in a way (but id argue also that each album has a distinctly different sound, so the change to DBTT from HC is expected), but i dont see what blur specifically has to do with it all....other than for an eye catching thread title, which it definitely was =P

Personally, I like Revolver equally as much as all of the Beatles albums besides the White Album. Don't get me wrong, the White Album is a good album, but there are some weak tracks on it in my opinion, whereas the others don't have many weak tracks.
