yeah Zak sounds phenomenal...only track he doesn't is LYLA where noel likely did the drums because they used a good portion of the demo

How do you know Zak drummed on these tracks? Noel said that Terry Kirkbride is drumming on half of the tracks on the album. Granted, Noel does talk nonsense 99% of the time.

where are people who slagged him off....right here....I stand by what I said. I said that arguments like "he's the son of ringo starr" wasn't a good argument for why he was a good drummer b/c ringo starr wasn't a good drummer, I thought he's "great live perfomrer" isn't a good argument for why he's a good drummer b/c it's the sound that counts not how "hard" he hits them (just put a fucking mic next to them it's how well he hits them that matters) and I continue to think that lyla's drumming was pretty much crap so where am I? I'm still here that's what I ahve to go on
NOW, it COULD be the case that he (or soemone else) is FAbulous on the new 4 tracks - I haven't listened to them and don't plan on it until the album comes out - if so then you're right BUT going on what I had to go on I stand by what I said

The drumming on the new songs is not that great, regardless of who did it. I was under the impression that it wasn't Zak who drummed on the record...

You know some of you twunts would not good drumming if Keith Moon, John Bonham, and Buddy Rich were resurrected put in a small room with you and proceeded to put on the best percussion jam session ever. You would just sit there po faced, eyes glazed over, and would then say, "err..not much going on there."
Further, I reckon you should hear the album in CD quality before you throw out any simplistic rants about the quality of the drumming. Only a child expresses angst over the quality of drumming on a 160 kbps promo track as an excuse for not having the spine to believe in the song itself.

lets just see.

Listen PRICKFACE don't call me a twat with no reason to, so we disagree, big fucking deal, asshole. Secondly, on what basis do you claim that I wouldn't know good drumming if Keith Moon were to be in the same room. RIght, the fact I disagree with you. Of course, I'm witholding my FINAL judgment for when I get the record and see the gig BUT I still stand by my statements that BASED on what I've heard I'm not impressed. Stupid dick! That's all I was saying. Learn how to read. Now, crawl back into the hole you came out of.

If you want to see Zak at his best you should try watching the who live at albert hall dvd. He really rips up the tunes without one mistake. Although Pete does talk about how Magic Bus wasn't always good on tour. Those of you who know thhe song will realise that maintaining the tempo and clarity of the drum riff is rather integral to the song... I'm not sure if the guy has a whole lot of experience but it's a bit harsh to write him off after two gigs

You may have some trouble however b/c you didn't seem to comprehend anything that was in the second paragraph. Nor did you understand that "twat" and "twunt" are different words, although not by much. The comment I made about some clueless lunkheads goes back some way back, and only applies to you if you consider yourself one, and based on your defensive repsonse I think the answer is plain to see. Note to you: Mark Beaumont in the NME whose knowledge and opinion I consider far more credible than yours has concluded that the drumming on Lyla is quite good. Doesn't sound to me as though you're withholding any final judgement either since you think 4 tracks on the album in poor quality is enough. Say, Lenny Castro is on Part of the Queue- I reckon you'll consider his performance crap as well once you hear the poor quality. YOU NEED TO HEAR A HIGH QUALITY VERSION ON A GOOD SYSTEM and the entire album before ANY sort of verdict I would think. Side note: I've had several disagreement with forum members today on the merits of some of the songs, and all have retracted their previous comments- though they had more candor and integrity that you I'm sure.

Secondly, you do need to learn how to read since I said I haven't FUCKING HEARD those four tracks, and if you were listening you'd know. It was a provisional, qualified personal opinon - taht's all, you little shit fourthly, fuck you prick fifthly, where the fuck do you live? you dare to question my integrity and call me a twat, fuck you. how old are you? sixthly, you STILL haven't provided an argument. I have systematically gone through what you have said both in my earlier post - where I brilliantly refuted what you said (I'm copying your style of praising yourself) and here too whereas your arguments have all been illogical. Like this one here. A fallacious appeal to authority. You're a waste of a life

look - I did turn into an incoherent prick. sorry about that - but that's only b/c you insulted me (and people like me) for no good reason (unless you think the fact that we disagree with you about whether or not zak is a good drummer is a good reason to insult people) you then proceeded to make a series of invalid arguments (all of which I refuted)
but you continued to insist that I was wrong, based on a misinterpretation of what I had said - namely you insisted that anyone who listens to the 4 tracks knows he's good -
whereas I was simply saying that I hadn't heard the 4 tracks, that I might change my mind, but going on what I had heard I didn't think he was good.
THE POINT of my initial post I thought was obvious. Namely, someone had said "where are all the zak doubters now?" and I thought that question implied that they were wrong. I'll admit that they (myself included might be) but my point was merely to point out that to claim that they WERE wrong on the basis of something that they have not yet heard is a bit ridiculous and that I still stand by what I said b/c I think that that makes the most sense GIVEN what I had heard. It might turn out that I was wrong, but I was just pointing out that my (and others too) initial opinion was not wrong, per se, because it was only a conditional opinion.
(In essence what I mean by this all is that to say that to blame someone's initial opinion with the benefit of hindsight is a bit ridiculous. Like let's say we place bets for the next FA Cup, let's say I bet Arsenal will win and you bet Millwall will win. Now if Millwall does win, then it turns out you are right. But that in no way means that your initial decision, based on assessing the strengths of Millwall, was rational. In fact, it was highly irrational. In other words, what I'm saying is that IF Zak turns out to be awesome on the new album - then I will have been wrong. But that in no way means that my initial decision, based on assessing the strengths of Zak, was rational. It could be that it was, it could be that it wasn't but the fact taht he ended up being good in the album does not mean that given the evidence at the time it was rational to think he was good. To make this judgment one can only assess based on the evidence at the time.
Now, maybe I'm giving you too much credit (ie - thinking you're smarter than you are) but I think you can understand that. IF not, you'll probably insult me for how long it is.
Ok, so this is a fairly stupid argument, if you really think the juice is worth the squeeze then where in chicago? or you could just come to toronto, it's closer to me - say june 17th, say seat section 409 say row b corse then we'd both get kicked out

Alright then, the initial post was a joke, everyone else took in stride. Notice you were the only one to respond.
I don't see where you refuted any argument of mine. Reread the posts.
Based on what I've heard of Zak, Lightning Seeds, The Who, Steve Marriot tribute, and now Lyla I think he is a formidable presence behind the kit. What you have heard remains unclear to me. I think my assessement of his abilities is similar to that of Pete Townshend and Noel. Perhaps you would like to air your negativism with them. Ask yourself this? Would Townshend have someone play in place of the fallen Keith Moon who was a no talent? One of the best rythmn sections in rock n roll history. And would Noel and the others lack a proper musical context to gauge whether Zak was the real deal.
Are you suggesting that Zak is the equivalent of a third division drummer? Who would be Premiership then, and who would be below third division?

OK GUYS here is the deal,,OASIS WERE AND ARE THE BEST BAND CAUSE OF noel and rkid ..not because they are the best musicians OASIS are a blend of musicianship, style, swagger, zak is a good enough drummer he is not bonzo or moon, hes more like his dad or charlie watts he keeps the time ,just as allan did .this is not a band led from the rythem section like THE WHO its a band LED BY 2 BROTHERS WHO DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT RULES thats why they are special oh and jmo premeirship bonzo-moon-neil pert-carl palmer..imo

sorry people, when someone insults me I regress into incohency and such - I really hope he's awesome on this album, maybe you're all right - and I agree that I wouldn't have thought twonshend and noel would pcik a bad drummer, but then again I don't like lyla's drumming at all - maybe it suits the song - I just don't like it - maybe it's not even him - I understand that it's a different style I suppose but I still don't like it, regardless, I'm done being childish, sory
