Status page with news, updates and FAQ's. www.mrmonobrow.dsl.pipex.com/monobrow/tapebid.htm----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ATTENTION: ALL OASIS FANS WE NEED ALL YOUR HELP TO HELP BRING SOME HISTORICAL MUSIC TO THE MASSES! Recently, a demo tape has surfaced that was recorded in 1989 by Noel Gallagher, who at that time was not what he is today. The information and clips on these songs is here: www.mrmonobrow.dsl.pipex.com/monobrow/noelsolo.htmThis tape is scheduled to be on auction soon. However, a dedicated Oasis fan has stepped forward and contacted the seller and we have a chance to possibly get the tape before auction, if that fails we have an opportunity to get it on auction. Mr Monobrow, who has been drafted by a dedicated group of Oasis fans, has agreed to step up in all facets of this project. Monobrow's reputation is built on countless hours spent recording and distributing live Oasis material as well as maintaining a strong reputation as being trustworthy and honest everywhere he participates in being an Oasis fan. We all need to band together to make this happen. The only way to make that happen is through donation. We have set up a Paypal account to handle these donations as well as ideas to assure that not only do we all get to hear the tunes, but that the tape goes to its rightful owner and that no one loses out. DONATIONS CAN BE MADE VIA PAYPAL TO THIS ADDRESS: noeltapedonation@hotmail.co.uk This is broken down into parts and hopefully all bases are covered... I - Donations a. Donations of any amount are accepted. There is no minimum and no maximum. b. Donations are accepted via Paypal only c. Donations are accepted until the goal is met or the auction ends. II - If the tape is won IIA - The spreading of the music a. The tape will go to Mr. Monobrow upon winning, he will be responsible for digitally converting the tape as well as the initial distribution. b. The music will be spread via two formats. FLAC and MP3. No user, regardless of donating or not, will be turned away from hearing the music. Torrents will be posted to open sites. A site will be set up to help spread the tunes via HTTP. Rapidshare and Yousendit links and other services of that type will be ENCOURAGED. The quality of MP3 will be the highest possible to ensure the maximum quality. c. If you donate over $20 (or whatever currency your country uses) you are entitled to a CD-r copy of the tape. You must however respond to the thread posted on an Oasis forum to the person who volunteers this service. This is the only perk a donater of a certain level will receive. If you dont request a CD by the time the offer ends, then it is up to the provider to provide you with one or not. Other people who may not have the technological capacity to download, will also be considered for this offer. d. If more money is received than is needed, the surplus amount will go to charity. IIB - Ownership of the tape a. Once the tape is digitially converted, we will then return the tape to Noel Gallagher, with the first attempt occuring no later than 30 days after receipt. b. This is a community project, no one person other than Noel will maintain ownership of said tape. III - If the tape is not won a. All monies donated will be donated to a charity of the communitys choosing, preferably a worldwide charity. Polls will be posted on the various Oasis sites to decide this should it come down to it. b. Anyone who has donated over $20 (in their currency) is entitled to a refund. Please contact Mr. Monobrow to request one. If a refund is not requested within 7 days of finding out it is not won, the money will be donated. IV - Miscealleanous a. Links to the music, either by torrent or HTTP will be maintained for as long as possible, these songs should be out there for whoever wants them, whenever. Finally, if you have doubts about the intentions of this idea, do not donate. That's really all that can be added. This idea was borne out of a desire to hear music that we would not have a chance to hear otherwise, and a way to get all Oasis fans involved in the history of their music and of Noel Gallagher. Signed, Oasis Fans United, the Noel Tape Fund Committee Mr. Monobrow et. al.

I've just heard back from the seller. He's indicated that he's probably going to start the auction without doing a private sale, so unless we can get past our target in the next day, to make a very tempting bid, going through the auction process seem increasingly and highly likely. And this is what we're playing for. The writing in the tape is the seller's and not Noel's. The history of how he got the tape is something he's told me he's just finishing off so we should know that pretty soon. We still need more money to give us a fighting chance of getting this tape. Don't sit back and presume the tape will be won and it'll be online for free in no time. That will eventually be the case IF we have enough money to buy the tape. So come on!

Plug this in a Japanese site you might have far better luck then us poor yanks/brits. Coincidentally, we got our first donation today in Yen. But as for Japanese sites, I wouldn't know where to start. We are always appealing to any people on these English speaking forums who post on other Oasis forums in their native language to please post the appeal on there. No-one is excempt from this.

I read up on the upadate page of mrmonobrows site that Noel reacted to the initial news of his tape being sold with following line:
'You're joking, aren't you? Spend six grand of my money for my songs? My own fucking songs. That's wrong. "
Doe's that give us a hint that the asking price is over 6 grand now ? ........

That quote refers to the sale of a longer, earlier tape in 1998. The seller has said he would "seriously consider" a bid of £1000 for this tape. But at an auction, it could go for more, it could go for less.

Just bumping the thread. Nothing has changed, we still need your cash to make this possible. If you can't donate then at least spread the word. Post on forums, e-mail Oasis sites to get it on their front page. If people sit back, hoping the songs will appear for free, that will happen, but ONLY if we get enough money to win the auction.

if you americans/brits/canadians are poor..... what's left for us then It's not an English-speaking thing. This is for Oasis fans anywhere in the world. I'd like more foreign fans to donate, there's too many 'English' names in the lists as it is...

how much loot is in thus far? Not going to say at the moment, although I probably will at the weekend, when I do one last appeal. At the moment, if promised donations from a few people come though, we'll have more than what it's going for now, but that's bound to rise, so we'll need more donations.

Right, here is a BIG announcement.
The seller has offered me the tape for £1000. He's unhappy that the eBay bidder retracted his bid, saying that his excuse was bullshit.
At the moment, we have £670 accounted for, with an offer of £250 on the table if, and I quote "we have a good chance". This is a fantastic chance so, in effect, we have £920.
We need £80 to get the tape.
DONATE NOW.
