Oasis are set to land their eighth number one single this week with 'The Importance Of Being Idle' comfortably outselling its nearest rivals.
According to midweek sales figures, the Manchester rockers are way ahead of Blue singer Simon Webbe with his debut single 'Lay Your Hands'.
Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna, Girls Aloud, White Stripes and Kaiser Chiefs are all set for new entries inside the top 10, but could be challenged by Freemasons and the Rolling Stones.
UK singles midweek top 10:
1. Oasis - The Importance of Being Idle
2. Simon Webbe - Lay Your Hands
3. James Blunt - You're Beautiful

THey put the release date back to avoid competition. Cowards The NME would be jumping all over both bands if they released their singles at the same time.

This would be the first time Oasis gets two consecutive #1 singles off the same album Is Idle popular across the Pond? It is here in Mexico...They play it on the radio all the time...and they play the video a lot too .....nobody buys singles over here though

Iv'e read two reviews of the single. NME slammed it and another British review (can't remember) gave it a 5/10.
The thing with Oasis is now their singles go #1 whether they deserve it or not and the media in UK hate that.
Especially if you compare the quality of their #1's vs. songs that didn't go #1 or even we're released.
