THE STREETS PAY TRIBUTE TO OASIS
THE STREETS paid tribute to V FESTIVAL headliners OASIS tonight in CHELMSFORD (August 20).
Before launching into ’Dry Your Eyes’ the band played a quick excerpt from the Gallagher’s ’Don’t Look Back In Anger’.
Led by singer Mike Skinner, the group also ran through a short sing-a-long to the Kaiser Chiefs’ ’I Predict A Riot in a nod the Leeds group playing on the Channel 4 Stage at the same time.
The Streets played a set drawing from both their 2002 debut ’Original Pirate Material’ and 2004’s A Grand Don’t Come For Free’.
Songs included ’Too Much Brandy’, ’Could Well Be In’, ’Weak Become Heroes’, ’Don’t Mug Yourself’, ’Has It Come to This?’, a special version of ’Let’s Push Things Forward’ mixed with ’Make Luv’ by Room 5 and Oliver Cheatham and a chaotic ’Fit But You Know It’ featuring Skinner’s protégées The Mitchell Brothers.
Skinner also joked during the set, “I really need a piss. It’s hard when you’re onstage and you can’t go for a piss even if you really need one – it’s hard guys!”
The Streets will be followed by Main Stage headliners Oasis whilst The Chemical Brothers top the bill on the Channel 4 Stage.

It wasn't a full cover or anything. They played a few bars of DLBIA and the guy who stands onstage with Skinner and does all the actual singing sanging a quick bit of "So Sally can wait...". They didn't do a full cover of the tune. Likewise, all Mike did was shout "I predict a riot!" (once) at the crowd during their set. The crowd shouted it back. That was all that happened. The article above says things like "short excerpt" and "a quick singlalong", and that's literally all they were. They were nice little nods but nothing more, so don't expect any fantsastic boots to come out of it guys.
