haha Ordinary boys are pretty good actually. Although their last album wasn't as good as I had hoped. Still a very good band.
Doves are pretty crap IMO.

The Ordinary Boys second album was a real let down as was Athletes. But Preston of the Ordinary boys is a really sound bloke, had a beer with him when he played the liquid rooms, supported by the Kaiser Chiefs, who put on a great live show, but as for the next Oasis?? Don't think so. Ricky Wilson is ten years older than Liam was when his debut album was released. I'm not saying its impossble that they'll put out a really great next album or two, but how long can they go on putting the shows on they do and keep it fun? I had massive hopes for Hard-fi but the album isn't as good as the first two singles would suggest (if it was, it could have been up there with DM), but once again, really nice lead singer. The Arctic Monkeys are looking fuckin fantastic, but no-one other than the Libs have created the media attention and had the fan base and loyalty since Oasis had it all 12 years ago.

I've just downloaded the MTV Superdry videos and if you watch D'You Know What I Mean it does show you that still, after all this time we won't get anything quite like Oasis.. it's a truely great live show and Oasis are still untouchable

There's not a band out there at the moment (with the exception of Coldplay) that can hit the same heights that Oasis did. None of them are talented enough as songwriters to be able to make a real connection with their audience in the same way as those two bands - and those that influenced them - did.
Too many new bands (Franz Ferdinand are a prime example) are writing soul-less music, and those who aren't (ie Kasabian) are too nonsensical as songwriters to have anyone really understand what they're getting at. Supersonic might have been random, but for every Supersonic Oasis have 2 songs like Live Forever. As far as I'm concerned, that's the difference maker.
