Rock hellraiser LIAM GALLAGHER has handed over his crown as British music's favourite bad boy to former nemesis PETE DOHERTY.
After the failure of OASIS' new album to capture the imaginations of music fans in the UK, Gallagher insists it's now time for a new generation of rockers to take up the mantle - lead by BABYSHAMBLES frontman Doherty.
Gallagher previously dismissed BABYSHAMBLES frontman Doherty as a "nasty" and "dirty" heroin addict - but now insists the 25-year-old is the future of British rock.
He says, "There is only one British hero right now: Pete Doherty, lead singer of THE LIBERTINES and Babyshambles.
"He lives the rock 'n' roll life - he's understood everything about that side of things. He doesn't give a monkey's about anything, does exactly what he wants to do. I admire his decadence. I completely recognise myself in him."
Both Gallagher and Doherty have fathered children with rock groupie LISA MOORISH.

I feel sorry for Pete Doherty. He's a slave to to chemicals. He's not a hero for that and he's not a 'rock and roll bohemian rebel' for that either. Loads of people have done that before and some of them had the sense to see it was shit. If that's Liams true opinion then I'm surprised. he usually says it like it is.
