Both guys have (so far) contributed 3 songs to Oasis records, with at least a B-side each to come before too long IMO. From Gem we've heard Hung in a Bad Place, A Bell Will Ring and Eyeball Tickler, and from Andy we've heard Thank You For the Good Times, Turn Up The Sun and Keep The Dream Alive
All 6 songs are recogniseable Oasis songs, mostly rockers with the exception of A Bell Will Ring, and for my money all 6 are damn good tracks. Who would you say has contributed the better songs so far, for me it's gotta be Andy, although I love Hung in a Bad Place.

True, I forgot that one, although I never like to class instrumentals as being proper songs, I know they are I suppose but still, plus I can't stand the track so its probably selective memory!

Gem's got this one "A bell will ring" is one of the best tracks of DBTT and is better than any of andy's tracks hes ever done(Although i do like all his tracks "Keep the dream alive" is his best to date) 1 thing though m8 i reckon "A bell will ring" is a rocker man!, when them drums kick in it blows your head off and liams vocals are spot on. In all andy and gem have really gave oasis a new dimension not only have they pushed noel further, Gem seems to be bringing the best out of liam.
cheers

I can't stand it either to be honest, just thought I'd bring it up. I've not allowed myself to hear the new tracks yet, but I really like Thank You For The Good Times, so I'm gonna vote Andy.

For me it;s kind of even, though Gem might just shade it. HIABP, Eyeball Tickler and A Bell Will Ring are all top tunes, proper rock 'n' roll anthems.
Andy's songs are good but more mixed - KTDA is great, as is TUTS. But A Quick Peep is kind of pointless, and I think TYFTGT is a good song ruined by bad production - it's a lovely melody which the band bludgeon into sounding like Some Might Say crossed with the wailing guitar from their cover of Heroes, though Liam still sings it brilliantly. Listen to the Bell acoustic bootleg of this song that's out there; really highlights what a great tune it could have been.

Gem's got a song that was made into a Victoria's Secret commercial here in the States. I think he wins.

I think Turn Up The Sun, is a fantastic opener for the album and for the live concerts... it's probably the rockiest song in the album and Noel singing with Liam sounds amazing... and Keep The Dream Alive it's definitely a classic, I like those better than any of Gem's... thogh Eyeball Tickler is pure rock'n'roll, exactly what I miss in some Oasis songs...

That's really tough - I love Eyeball Tickler - I love TYFTGT - man I can't decide.
The good news is that we now have four song writers and guitar players who can turn out some pretty decent material.

Although I am a massive Ride fan, I have to say that Gem has probably done more for Oasis than Andy.

I have two Hurricane #1 albums and a Ride album but Heavy Stereo's album gets played more than all 3 of those put together.
Gem by far!
