Personally I don’t think that it is anything MTV has against Oasis, as many of the people around in 94-97 are likely not around or in any position to determine who gets airplay.
I think that MTV believes America doesn't care, and therefore see no profit in them. As corporate as the music industry has become, profit is an incredible driving force now. Much greater than the idea of spreading good and quality rock n' roll (or any music for that matter).
On a side note I would really like to see what goes on behind the scenes at MTV when it comes to getting music or videos played. Im sure its a rather underhanded and business like event, with companies searching for the most profitable investments and pushing the ones they deem so.

MTVs too much of a damn business these days. They push it while its strong and couldnt careless a year after the albums release.
As for Ashlee Simpson id like to know what theyll be doing with her crap in 2 years time if they cant even keep up with good rock n roll music.
But then again I dont think they view good rock n roll music any higher than they do pop dance tunes or gangster rap about drinking a bottle of liquor while you try to get a chick.

I think MTV is the biggest load of shitlicking crap. Nothings about the music anymore, its more about the 'artists' and their lives. WHO CARES! I couldn't give a shit about Ashlee-fucking-Simpson and what she does in her spare time. They should be made to change the title for a start - to CTV (celebrity television), they might aswell. I'd like to see the percentages of the amount of music thats played and the amount of reality shows that seem to be constantly on. The worlds gone Fucking M-A-D!
I loved it when Liam was on TRL and put that fucking nobhead presenter straight about selling records.

I don't know what MTV is like in the rest of the world-- but here in America it's just terrible. They just have fucking TV shows all fucking day!!!! The dumbest TV shows you can think of, except with almost naked chicks, which granted, is a good thing, but I'm just saying that other than the almost-naked chicks, they're really dumb shows.
