Not bad, right? I'm not worried. When I heard the first drum fill I forgot that it wasn't whitey.
It's not a big deal, if starkey drums on this, then RESPECT!

i love the drumming for lyla...it's gotta simple freshness to it
i'll be the first to admit, i thought the drumming at glastonbury was shit
buttttt....this is zak starkey and i saw him drum for the who in 2002 at the air canada centre and i thought he was fantastic....really did keith moon (the best drummer ever) some justice
i think he'll fit in fine and let's face it the chief knows what hes doin

zak starkey is a shite drummer!
if i was noel i would offer the drummer from the libertines a ton of cash to join oasis.
better than being unemployed.

Reckon it's Starkey's drumming that f**ked Oasis over at Glastonbury. Listen to Supersonic and Live Forever and you'll see he's well off the pace.

It's not because he's a shit drummer, it's just because he was still a bit new to those tunes.

first thing i said was "damn liams voice is good!" second thing i said was "the drumming is sweet as!" love the fills and that... but the main drum beat is so upbeat and catchy! makes you tap your feet

Starkey's got a more rockable smash it hard-as style. By the end of his time you tell Alan was bored and just pussyfooting round the songs. This is much better. In fact its fecking brilliant

said it before and i'll say it again... wouldn't surprise me if noel was behind the drums on this one. it was revisited lately during the recordings and maybe starkey wasn't with them in the studio anymore.
that dum-dum-dum thing... that's the only thing that could be better on lyla.

I think Zak is a great drummer, he did a good job @ Glaston... specially in RNR Star and Champagne Supernova. Can't stop listening to that boot!
But I don't think he plays the drums on Lyla.

I totally agree with you my good man! i also think Zak Starkey had nothing to do with this tune at all, As noel said it's really one of his old demo's that he got liam to sing on an added some effect's(Such as the bell ring, and Piano towards the end) i think it sounds like a demo quite abit(nothing bad just listen to songbird demo) stripped down and quite a simple catchy tune, perfect for that 1st single. I also don't think Zak will have drummed much on the record itself(Noel said he ain't met him much and if im right all of the song's noel demo's he usually play's the drums or uses a drum machine?). Im looking forward to the meaning of soul myself out of the other 2 we've heard, a rocking short liitle number to knock you out in the summer(Song 2 anyone? ;D) Cheers doggboy10

I wasn't such a fan of Zak's performance at Glastonbury too, but whoever played the drums in Lyla, I think did a hell of a good job... they don't sound amazing or anything but they really carry you into the song, I think it fit perfectly in the song...

ANYWAY, I reckon the drumming's all right, not great... catchy, but a monkey trained sufficiently (ie about 20 minutes) would probably be able to master it

actually ..NOEL said this tune was a demo that LIAM added the vocals to ..so all this talk of ZAK is meaningless... NOEL is most probably the drummer as he drums on demos so if LIAM just added vocals all this ZAK talk means nothin ..i think zak is a OK drummer but dont think hes on this track if wat NOEL said is true..jmo
