Cigarettes didn't do it. Lennon smoked tons. His voice only improved. Same with McCartney, Noel, The Rolling Stones, and etc. so you're telling us that mick jagger sounds better with age? you must be smoking more than cigs, man! ever heard of the band? the drummer/singer, levon helm, smoked so much that he got cancer in his throat. they had to take his voice box out and now he can't sing, let alone talk. get your facts straight: cigarettes have A LOT to do with the deterioration of the voice.
