I was very bored ealier today and thought 'hey, if oasis performed a massive 'best of oasis' gig and say had a bumper 21 song set list like they had at finsbury park and knebworth, what songs would be on they play? This got me thinking and i decided to come up with a set ;D! I wanted this set to be a fair reflection on all 5 (or 6 if you include the masterplan) albums and well be the very best of oasis. I was undecided about what exactly to choose, apart from the obvious Live Forever, Wonderwall, DLBIA etc, i mean i would love to put songs on like 'stay young', 'd'ya wanna be a spaceman' and 'flashbax' but all these songs are really b-sides and although personally the my favourites and would have them in any 'best of compilation' but i can't really put them in can i? I wanted the gig to be recgnisible to somebody who had say only listened to the albums of oasis, which some people obviously have, because that is where they get judged, not on a b-side to Roll With It or somet. I also made a rule of only putting songs in, in there proper form, i.e although i personally prefer Noel's version of 'Whatever', Liam did sing on the single, so he would sing it at the 'best of oasis gig'. Here goes:- 1. Fuckin In The Bushes :- Much, much better than the 'Swamp song' imo, I think the fans really start going mad ferrit! when they hear this before then band come out. I also like the 'this is not a drill' stuff before which was added the other year. 2. Rock 'n' Roll Star :- The perfect open oasis' first album D.Maybe and why? because it tells you all you need to know about the band. Imo, you gotta start a 'best of oasis' gig with this song! 3. Hindu Times :- HT is very similair to RnRS in many ways, another great album opener so i would load it up after RnRS. 4. Supersonic :- The crowd always go mad for this one! A great rock n roll anthem and gets the crowd jumping! 5. Morning Glory :- I prefer this song live rather than on the album, for me on the album their is too much going on and i can't stand all that helicopter noise in the background, but live the song comes alive. 6. Go Let It Out :- Starting to bring things down a bit now, after the very rocky start. I chose GLIO because, not only do i think it's a good song, but i wanted a fair represantation of all of Oasis albums and imo, GLIO is a good represantation of Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants. 7. D'you Know What I Mean? :- I didn't like this song when i first heard it but it as really grew on me. At first i thought the lyrics were corny but now i really like it! ;D Once again i am continuing to bring the songs down a bit. Also this is another song i prefer live. Like Morning Glory i can't stand the rubbish noises in the background in this song also, that's why i prefer this one live aswell. 8. Some Might Say :- On my original post i had Slide Away but i have decided to change it. I much prefer S.M.S to S.A and i think with Liam's voice the way it is now i think he would actually struggle to sing Slide Away. 9. Stand By Me :- I really like this song, deserves it's place in the top 21 oasis tracks of all time imo. Good song for Liam to play before he goes and rests his voice, or have a ciggy and a pint! ;D The band leave and Noel continues solo. 10. Little By Little :- A real classic, amazing lyrics, not so sure about the shaky guitar though. Noel does seem to save a few real gems for him to sing! Noel uses acoustic guitar for the next 4 songs without the band. 11. The Masterplan (ACOUSTIC) :- The best song he ever wrote according to Noel. I wanted to get as many songs in by noel as possible, and The Masterplan deserves it's place, especially played just by Noel and with the acoustic guitar and the bloke on harmonica and all the violins and stuff. GREAT SONG! Liam returns. 12. Whatever/Octopus' Garden (ACOUSTIC):- I adore this song, i like noel's version but it's gotta be liam on this occasion. This song is so energetic and free, beautiful song! Love it acousticley and with the violins and harmonica like at knebworth! 13. Wonderwall (ACOUSTIC):- The inclusion of this song needs no explanation. I would really like to hear this song played acousticley more though. 14. Songbird (ACOUSTIC):- Wanted to get some of Liam's songs in here and this is the best one, imo. Some people think the demo is better but i prefer the lp version, with the harmonica blasting out! ;D Acoustic song's end and band return. 15. Roll With It:- After all the slow songs about love, a real rock n roll anthem to get the masses jumping. 16. Cigarettes & Alchohol :- Keep the crowd jumping! Oasis doing what they do best and getting down to some real rock n roll tunes like this one! 17. Stop Crying Your Heart Out :- Has to go, simple. I adore this song, the modern Wonderwall imo. Beautiful. 18. Live Forever :- Probabley my favourite ever song. It's just perfect and you never want it to end. Love the way the band play it really slow now aswell! 10 out of 10 track! Great way for the band to go off stage before the encore. Encore. 19. Don't Look Back In Anger :- With only 2 songs from Noel up to now i like the way after the band go off he is the only one to return, like now he takes centre stage from Liam for once. Great song! 20. Champagne Supernova :- Another song that just has to go in. A great song to play as the penultimate song because it's long winding and fades out so the crowd will be almost unwinding during this song before the big finale song. Amazing song, unlike All Around The World it justifies it's length. 21. I Am The Walrus. The last song. Imo, still oasis' best cover of a song and a great song to finish the gig. Goodnight! ;D Would be great if you let me knew what you think of my list. Anything you would add or take out?

1. Fuckin In The Bushes :- Much, much better than the 'Swamp song' imo Are you insane sir? The Swamp Song rules, especially if performed live, I refer you to the There And Then video. Now THAT'S how to open a show!

Swamp song please! And; Slide Away instead of Rock 'n' Roll Star. Force of Nature instead of the Hindu Times. She's Electric instead of Go Let It Out. Don't Go Away (with Liam like on the Keenan Ivory Wayan's show and SNL) instead of D'you Know Wha I mean. Wonderwall electric ánd acoustic. Noel'll find out how to make that sound great. (Nothing wrong with slow songs 'bout love when you're in love is there? And Wonderwall is not really slow) But I'd like to hear Stay Young instead of Roll With It. Gas Panic! instead of Cigs and Alc. I'd like a Champagne Supernova with a very long solo please. And no I am the Walrus since it's an Oasis gig. It's not that I don't like the song it's just I keep hearin' the Beatles. Ánd... Finally it has to end with Don't Look Back In Anger. That'll be my favourite gig, especially when it's the last one or somethin'. So we can all get tears in our eyes when DLBIA sounds through the massively packed Wembley. Sigh... That'd be great.

Some of your replacments are interesting but some i don't agree with. I don't know how you can choose Slide Away over Rock n Roll Star. RnRS is a song that tells you all you need to know about oasis especially when they first started out. I do like She's Electric but you can't surely have that ahead of Go Let It Out? GLIO is symbolic of the current style of music that the band are making and shows great maturity and superb lyrics. And how can you have Gas Panic instead of Cigarettes and Alcohol???!

Well you see, everyone has his own special taste. BUT it's not that I don't like the songs you mentioned, some just give me a feeling you know. Nostalgic feelings, like Slide Away, it's a beautiful song but the lyrics are a bit too sweet. Rock 'n Roll Star indeed tells everything about Oasis, but Slide Away gives me more than any song of them, the feeling that you get when you're listenin' to your favourite band. Check out Slide Away in the Barrowlands. It just touches me. So that's why I prefer that one instead of RNRS. And Go Let it Out, yes you're right it is indeed the current style of the band and has great lyrics and I love the song but I just hate it live. Liam's voice always sounds bad on this one IMO. Like that Familiar to Millions performance it's just bloody awful. And She's Electric; well it's got such a catchy tune, the drums in the beginning are just heating you up for a good night of Oasis. This song will always bring a smile upon my face, and it's ideal for grabbin' a beer! And well, Gas Panic... The lyrics are so darn good you know. And Liam's voice is always good on this one, totally different from when he sings Go Let It Out (check out the Berlin 2002 gig), and the solo is massive. Easy, but massive. Well, these are all IMO ofcourse. It's just depends what kind of Oasis fan you are. And before I end: Where is ACQIEUSCE??? Can't be missin' on this gig ofcourse.

I'll be controversial and end with Rock n Roll Star, perhaps beginning with Hello, Rock n Roll Star for me is the perfect way to end a concert!

the last song oasis should ever play should be something EPIC. MEGA, you know what I Mean? I think that would be Whatever, with a capo 3d fret. It's all rocky at first, and then everythigs quiet and noel ends it real nice acoustically like he did at mtv super dry 2002

the song that oasis should end their last concert with should be live forever.
btw, does anyone else remember how live forever was played over the pa system when wayne gretzky was leaving the ice after his last game (1999, vs ottawa)?
also, i guess it is pretty common knowledge that the beatles played their last concert in 1966 in the cow palace in san fran (not including their noddling on the roof in 69) but does anyone know what the last song was that they played that night?

No it should end with Don't Look Back In Anger. It's epic, it's mega and it's about lookin' forward. When Oasis is gone we should focus on another band and look back with a smile, not being angry because they stopped or somethin'. Live Forever would be a good alternative, or they do 2 nigths with one L4E and one DLBIA.

Thanks for all your replies guys but i never actually said it would be a final ever Oasis gig in which obviousley the set list would be different and yes maybe end with Live Forever or something else very poinient or relavent to the gig but i actually said it was a 'very best of Oasis' gig to relflect 12 years of Oasis or whatever hence the last song being 'I Am The Walrus' which they have played to end many, many, many gigs over the years. TBH, it does annoy me when they always seem to finish with a non-Oasis song like IATW or My Generation because i think they should end with one of there own songs at gigs, i mean, what better way to end a gig than with Live Forever or a great Rock and Roll anthem in Rock N Roll Star or even the long winding and mellowing Champagne Supernova?

Yeah well I thought of that. You can't do a "Best Of" Gig when they're still producing songs.

I would really like to see some songs that we're not used to like Don't Go Away, acoustic or not, I would LOVE to hear Let's All Make Believe live, but I guess that was a pretty possible set list right?
just a few changes in my opinion...
1 - where's Acquiesce?? you can go without that in a show.... 2- I would change Little By Little cos' I don't think it's one of the best live songs.... maybe Step Out or something else... 3- I would definetely put Bring It On Down there, it sounded mega on Glasto'04 4- it would be veryyy class to close the show with Live Forever, I think it's just the perfect song for an end...
well I think it sounds pretty good!
