Stylistically, it would've fit wonderfully. It matches the tone of the album perfectly, and would've fit on the album quite well.
Personally, I also think that Acquiesce should've been a Double A-side with Some Might Say, and it should also have been on the album. Of course, I suppose you could say that with most of the MG-era B-Sides. But definitely with Whatever, which was an A-side, I think it should've been on the album.
It's a crime that it's never been officially released in the US.

I don't know, but yeah Whatever would have fit on WTSMG. I think Whatever was to much like Wonderwall I think. Still I think Whatever is better than Wonderwall. I hope Oasis will bring out Whatever together with The London Symphony Orgestra or something, It would be a cool one. And defo a chart hit.

aah, leave it out people. whatever is that oasis song that people forget about because it wasnt on any album but when they hear it years later they remember wher they were and what they were doing at the time.
complete controll, white man in hamersmith palais, clash city rockers, three classics that were between albums because the clash were writing songs like there was no to-morrow.
oasis b-sides in those days were better than the best songs on other bands albums.
but i have to agree with you about whatever.
it should have been on morning glory!

it wasnt on morning glory cos noel wanted the big string section in it and it costed too much at the time. But as it became clear MG was a massive album they recorded it as a one off single the way noel wanted it to sound.

lamby, that was what i read. also i tihnk it might have something to do with the beatles and them just releasing singles which had nothing to do with the albums they put out just to show they were still around.

I don't think they were big enough in the US to release it as a single at the time... Also, it's not a strange occurence for bands/musical groups to release singles that don't appear on albums...in fact it was once the norm. It gives you a reputation as being a "singles" band as well as a good "albums" band. Best example I can think of is The Beatles or The Jam...Consider Paperback Writer b/w Rain, Hey Jude b/w Revolution...The Jam's All Around The World or Absolute Beginners.
In other words...you guys make it sound like it's some strange occurence to release a single not on an album...but in the old days it was strange not to release a single that was independent from an album.

No, believe me, I know that in the past, singles were usually not part of albums. But these days that's not so much the case. Bands release singles on albums. Now, I realize that it occurred at a moment between the recording of DM and MG. I also realize that Whatever was released many months before MG. However, Some Might Say was released well before MG as well. In this day and age, with CDs being more expensive than old vinyl 45's, it's a good thing that singles are on the albums because it puts them into a format into which they can easily be accessed.
That's why I think Whatever should have been on MG.

i dont no why it wasnt. It may have been something to do with the amount of time between its release and the release of the album. Also, maybe they didnt want another mcarrol drummed track on the album.

i think they released whatever round christmas, cuz its a good tune for that time of year. Plus it fills the gap between DM and WTS(MG) and why should they put it on MG after its released as a single half a year before or so?

I know for sure. Whatever has a similiar melody to Octopussy's Garden. Sometimes when Noel plays whatever live, just electric and he takes lead vocals himself. He often sings the first lines of that Beatles song which can be found on their last album and is sung by Ringo Star.
