So tough, I had to score the songs of my favourite singles which means

Wonderwall 9, Round Are Way 7.5, Swamp Song 7, Masterplan 10 = 33.5

Cig and Alc 9, I am the Walrus 8, Listen Up 8, Fade Away 8.5 = 33.5

Some Might Say 10, Talk Tonight 9, Acquiese 10, Headshrinker 7.5 = 36.5

Whatever 10, Good to be Free 9, Half the World Away 8.5, Slide Away 10 = 37.5

So I suppose I agree with you on whatever as my favourite single...although i am tempted to dock it a point for including an album cut (jeez, what kind of a rating would the LBL/SIL single using this scale- probably in the negative numbers) which would put it in a dead heat with the SMS single which feels right to me.

All those B sides made it on the masterplan aswell

I had previously docked the whatever single a point because it contained an album cut in its b-sides.
What I failed to realize was that whatever in itself is only available on its single (missing from the masterplan, which makes it, probably without question the best of the rare songs-unavailable in any album format-in the oasis cannon)

With this insight, i now can say with certainty, that the whatever single is my favourite uk single of all time-up to now,

phew, i feel better getting that off my mind.
