When you tell people "OASIS", they usually think about 2 most famous songs: Wonderwall, Don't look back in anger. If you have to reward the best one, what would you choose?
Mine: Don't look back in anger.....its melody is simply perfect...

Wonderwall is the more famous one, undoubtedtly
But musically wonderwall is flat, its good to play coz everyone knows the song.. Dont look back in anger in the other hand, much more complex...
And the solo in Don't look back is the best solo that Noel Gallagher ever produced (u think no!? tell me which song that has good long solo)
n i think noel's voice is really really really really good in this song....
its a kinda song that is good to play wen ur happy n wen ur sad
Don't look back, for musical reasons, wins!

honestly, never really liked wonderwall that much, even though it's their most famous song.... don't look back is one of my favs... you are right, top solo on that one.... the only other solo i can think to compare would be from champagne.....

Dont Look Back In Anger - easily the better one out of the two. Its the way it is so uplifting that does it.
Musically, i mean if you just play the chords to yourself then its a peice of piss. But its sounds fucking ace with a full band and all the solo's.
Im just glad Liam didn't sing it coz his voice wouldn't have matched Noels version whatsoever. Imagine Liam singing it now with HIS voice. In the early years then yeah MAYBE but now......No way.

Dont look back in anger in the other hand, much more complex... And the solo in Don't look back is the best solo that Noel Gallagher ever produced don't look back in anger is not complex. if you want to talk to us about complex, talk about frank zappa. oasis' music is not complex. but that's the reason why they're so good- they keep it plain and simple. and noel gallagher has never produced a great solo, not even a decent one. he's a rhythm/lead-ish guitarist. he plays to accompany the music. i think he's a great guitarist, but you shouldn't really put the words noel gallagher along with soloing. by the way, this is coming from someone who idolizes noel.

Dont Look Back In Anger is classic Its sounds like the Beatles reincarnated. The drumming is top notch (Whitey will be missed) and the vox are great... perfect sing along chorus.
Wonderwall is just a good but doesnt have that good happy feel to it. Liam has that unmistakable vocal performance brought out by the acoustic guitar. But this will be known as along with Live Forever as Oasis' most popular song.

champagne supernova is a better solo. it has 2 good guitar leads that now noel and gem both do. i've heard noel play quite a few good extended solos. he's done it with champagne supernova a couple times. those are good solos.
between those two i would have to say DLBIA.

if you know of people that only know oasis for those two songs i would suggest you tell them to go listen to some of oasis' good songs. These songs bore me compared to many others. Tell them to listen to Supersonic or Champagne Supernova.

Between the two i would go for wonderwall. The song is so simple but the melody is perfect!! Liams voice makes it.
Also, my favourite oasis rif would have to be live forever.

champagne supernova
and jayg, live forever isn't a riff (don't take it personally- a lot of people mistake chord progressions and songs for riffs). a riff is a quick fill. a riff is like randy rhoads' quick little bar before the first verse of crazy train right before ozzy starts singing (i know, it's redundant, but i have no better way to explain it lol)

Slightly off-topic, but I think these two songs both got their best-ever versions at Glasto.

I listen/PLAY Joe Satch, Steve Vai n Frank zappa stuff too... so dont think i'm an idiot n dont know wat i'm talkin about I know that noel is rythm player (well DUH!), but i was saying that as a rythm player i reckon that was his best solo... Cant u c the context dat i'm talkin about.. dont think u no everything

I belive that champagne supernova has a brilliant solo....especailly live....it seems that dlbia is just a simple scale and to easy...where as the supernova solo is, while not hard, much more fun to listen to and play...
