Look at all those other bands ... They all come up with a Greatest Hits. Oasis has not done that yet. "If" they will do this in the future, and there will be a playlist of 15 songs, which songs would you choose ?

I'm sure there will be a greatest hits or best of at some point. I'd be in favor of waiting on that until they've disbanded. Also, it's got to be a 2-disc, because there's no way they could even come close to doing the catalog justice with just one.

They will release a Greatest hits one day, not too soon though i hope. A Greatest hits always seems like it's the end of the band....they may release a Greatest hits and carry on releasing albums with some greatest hits on where is the sense in that? but if i could choose from past songs.... 1 Songbird 2 D'ya know what i mean? 3 Whatever 4 Some might say 5 Wonderwall 6 Supersonic 7 Live Forever 8 Don't go away 9 Sunday Morning Call 10 Roll it over 11 Cigs & alcohol 12 Fade Away 13 SCYHO 14 Cast no shadow 15 Slide Away

noel said, wen oasis release 'the greatest hit' album, that will be their last... Oh well, theyre not as good as they were. Like they say, wen ur too happy or too rich u dont write the right songs... For sure wonderwall & Dont look back' gona b in it. Supanova shud b in it... Live forever, no doubt. shit theres load more... i agree, i reckon its gona b 2 CDs... but not holding my breath. I was holding my breath b4 they released SOTSOGs... so i'm not gona hold my breath for it... Wateva theyre new album gona b, its not gona change culture like it was... but i still gona b the first one in Oz to buy it...

If it's a Greatest Hits Album it couldn't have our personal favourites on it.
It would have to have most of the singles on it plus some other popular songs, plus a few good b-sides that are popular with most people in general.
It would also need to have at least 20 songs, so here's the track listing (in this order):
Side-A 1. Rock 'n' Roll Star 2. Fade Away 3. Wonderwall 4. Don't Look Back In Anger 5. Hindu Times 6. Some Might Say 7. Acquiece 8. Shakermaker 9. Cigs 'n' Alcohol 10. Stand By Me
Side-B 11. Go Let It Out 12. Columbia 13. DYKWIM 14. Half The World Away 15. Whatever 16. The Masterplan 17. Supersonic 18. Songbird 19. Champagne Supernova 20. Live Forever
Some noticable absences that people might disagree with are SCYHO, Little By Little, Gas Panic!, Don't Go Away, Slide Away, All Around The World, Roll With It, Who Feels Love?, Cast No Shadow, Listen Up, Sunday Morning Call, Stay Young, Where Did It All Go Wrong?, Underneath The Sky. I feel however that this is a very balanced track list (more popular albums have more songs) that would be hard to argue against.

I agree that any future Greatest Hits album would need to contain commercially viable songs and not just the type of song that we the hardcore fans enjoy.
A good bet for Disc 1 would be as follows:
1. Rock ‘n’ Roll Star 2. Supersonic 3. Cigarettes And Alcohol 4. Fade Away 5. Live Forever 6. Acquiesce 7. Morning Glory 8. Roll With It 9. Wonderwall 10. Don’t Look Back In Anger 11. The Masterplan 12. Some Might Say 13. Champagne Supernova
These 13 songs are roughly chronological, are taken from the 1994-1996 era and includes 3 b-sides. I like the positioning of Acquiesce just before Morning Glory (ACQ has Noel singing bits from MG) and I think Supernova is the perfect disc closer. I don't like the positioning of SMS at #12 but there isn't really anywhere else for it to go on my tracklisting. Notable absentees from this disc are the singles Shakermaker and Whatever, as well as fan favourites like Columbia, Slide Away and Half The World Away, which all simply have no place in a 'commercial' Greatest Hits album.
Disc 2 could be something like this:
1. D’You Know What I Mean? 2. Stand By Me 3. It’s Gettin Better, Man! 4. Go Let It Out 5. Gas Panic 6. The Hindu Times 7. Stop Crying Your Heart Out 8. Songbird 9. Little By Little 10. ? 11. ? 12. ? 13. ?
Bearing in mind that Oasis didn't release any commercial music between 1998 - 2002 and the fact that Noel loathes the Be Here Now-era tracks, it is simply illogical to expect much from this period on a Greatest Hits album. The singles All Around The World, Don't Go Away, Who Feels Love? and Sunday Morning Call have all been, therefore, omitted. IGBM has been included because it's one of Noel's Favourites. I don't think any B-sides from 1997 - 2002 are strong enough to feature. The vacant tracks 10-13 will hopefully come from Oasis' 6th - and last - studio album in 2005.

fookin hell guys, I dont think we are gonna be happy here until we can throw 5 albums onto 2 discs! lol If Oasis do make a greatest hits it will be very interesting to see what songs they choose. It is obviously going to consist of the songs that were released on single and were high in the charts plus other popular songs that people will recognise. Songs such as let's all make beleive, roll it over will not even come into consideration as they are songs that not everyone knows and are only popular and liked by true oasis fans. What I would do though is have one cd based on the earlier years and the other one based on the later years. This would give us a balance between sound, I think I speak for us all by saying we are forever changing from the 'I'm a rock and roll star' lets gets pissed phase to the 'Who feels love?' I just wanna chill out mode. Are we?

As previously stated it would be to difficult to put all the hits on one cd. 15 tracks would just make it an A side best of which would do justice but of couse we know Oasis has much more great tunes to offer.
1. Champaign Supernova 2. Live Forever 3. Supersonic 4. Cigarettes and Alcohol 5. Whatever 6. Some Might Say 7. Sunday Morning Call 8. Wonderwall 9. Dont Look Back In Anger 10.D'you Know What I Mean 11.Hindu Times 12.All Around The World 13.Go Let It Out 14.Little By Little 15.Stop Crying Your Heart Out

They do "best of" live shows don't they? Fuckin' In The Bushes The Swamp Song Acquiesce Half the World Away The Masterplan Rock 'n' Roll Star Supersonic Shakermaker Live Forever Cigarettes & Alcohol Whatever Some Might Say Roll With It Wonderwall Don't Look Back In Anger Morning Glory Champagne Supernova D'You Know What I Mean? Stand By Me All Around The World Don't Go Away Go Let It Out Who Feels Love? Sunday Morning Call Gas Panic! Where Did It All Go Wrong? The Hindu Times Stop Crying Your Heart Out Little By Little Songbird I think that would please the double cd people considering all the single releases, videos, promos, concert openers i.e. FITB, Swamp Song and a TV theme tune like Half The World Away has become more than just a b-side as with Acquiesce and the title of the b-side compilation. There are a few other shouts for songs like Columbia considering its "white label demo" history etc apart from it possibly being the best song on Definitely Maybe and how about the amount of airplay She's Electric has received despite never being released as a single, without a video etc. I don't assume anyone could be bothered to figure out the tracklisting time for such a release lol. I personally don't think Oasis should release such a bloated package until much later in a Beatles type of Anthology series with demo's, outtakes etc as a treat for the fans. For the time being I would much prefer something like the Nirvana, Guns N' Roses, Manic Street Preachers single disc "best Ofs" that pushes 80 minutes of CD space to keep it fresh and exciting for new fans particularly, what are Greatest Hits mainly for despite the odd new song for the older fans anyway? This would also mean leaving out Shakermaker unless it was the FTM version Being pushed I would also take Don't Go Away over All Around The World from the BHN era and Gas Panic! over anything from the Giants era oh and My Generation for being one of the best live songs and b-sides the band have done in years.... but keeping with reality, 1. Fuckin' In The Bushes 2. Rock 'n' Roll Star 3. Supersonic 4. Live Forever 5. Cigarettes & Alcohol 6. Whatever 7. Half the World Away 8. Some Might Say 9. Acquiesce 10. Wonderwall 11. The Masterplan 12. Don't Look Back In Anger 13. Morning Glory 14. Champagne Supernova 15. D'You Know What I Mean? 16. Stand By Me 17. Go Let It Out 18. Gas Panic! 19. The Hindu Times 20. Stop Crying Your Heart Out 21. Little By Little 22. Songbird haha it ain't easy considering the MG era gems and the average length of an Oasis song here - the above goes just over 100 minutes excluding songs like Roll With It, SMC, WFL, Shakermaker, All Around The World, Don't Go Away etc. Maybe im just a greedy old fan too

mine would go like this
1 live forever 2 cigarettes and alcohol 3 shakermaker 4 supersonic 5 whatever 7 some might say 8 cast no shadow 9 wonderwall 10 don't look back in anger 11 champagne supernova (radio edit) 12 do you know what i mean (radio edit) 13 stand by me 14 don't go away 15 go let it out 16 gas panic 17 where did it all go wrong 18 hindu times 19 stop crying your heart out 20 little by little 21 songbird
b sides usually don't go on greatest hit compilations...and this wouldn't be the track listing...it would be out of order to give the album a better flow

wouldnt particularly want a greatest hits to be releaed by them, and at least not at this point, they only have 5 albums...i prefer proper albums anyday.
and really if they did...as someone said b4, itd most likely be lots of dm and wtsmg and some others....id prefer them to release some more b sides or previously unreleased material from the past
