OASIS have gone "back to the drawing board" with the follow-up to ’HEATHEN CHEMISTRY’.
The band, who headlined Glastonbury over the weekend (June 25), have been working on their sixth album for much of the year.
They originally recruited producers Death In Vegas before ending the sessions, and have also been recording without drummer Alan White, who has left the band.
Noel Gallagher told the BBC that "the moment has passed" for some of the songs that have been recorded so far, and Oasis will work on more new material before the album is released.
He said: "We've got to decide what kind of record we're going to do now, because the record that we tried to make with Death In Vegas, that kind of didn't happen and the moment has passed for that batch of songs. So it's back to the drawing board really. Hopefully, it will be out by the end of the year but I wouldn't have thought so."
Two new songs, titled ’A Bell Will Ring’, and ’The Meaning Of Soul’, were played at Glastonbury. A third unreleased song has also been played live in the past, titled ’Stop The Clocks’.
A band source has told NME.COM that the band are happy with a number of songs already recorded for the album, but that all four members of the band are working on material.

we have 4 songwriters now. so more songs should but churned out and the level of competition between them all now would mean there games are being raised even higher. so lets hope for a good album for us fans. it doesnt matter if its a commercial sucess they've been there done that just bring out a album that we all love.

just bring out a album that we all love. i hear ya....but from what i read sometimes, that's rather mission impossible i thought HC was a very very good album showing that they're back on the right track..but people demanded another wonderwalls and live forevers..others moaned that the sounds were too similar to their mid-90's work. as far as i can see oasis first 5 (last 3 included!!) studio albums beat any other's first 5....well except for new kids on the block perhaps

Good there is absolutely no reason why they should put out shit music.
Oasis tunes are straight forward anthems end of.
I would wait 2 years if it meant not having to hear
Little James, She is Love and Probably all in the mind again.

Have to say I was disappointed with this news when it came out. After all, NME's first issue of 2004 trumpeted that Oasis would have an album out this year, and Noel was talking about it being psychedelic rock 'n' roll. Death In Vegas was helping with production, and I'd loved what they'd done with Liam on Scorpio Rising, so I was really excited. Then I hear things are going slowly. Originally, they'd wanted the album out around the time of Glastonbury. Noel claimed they had all the songs demoed and a running order for the album prepared. Now we almost certainly aren't getting the album this year.
Taking a step back, maybe it won't be so bad. I hope you guys are right, and that this just means this next album will be that much better, and we will get some quality b-sides. Plus, at least there is the Definitely Maybe DVD to look forward to.
