Ive also noticed that many people have put HC low down on their lists, I personally would have to disagree, HC to me sound like a band who mean it. BHN sounds like a cocaine fuelled mess I disagree I don't think it sounds like a cocaine fueled mess. Stand by Me would fit just as easily on What's the Story, same with Don't Go Away and a couple of the rockers such as It's getting better man and I hope I think I know are just as good if not better as Morning Glory. Theres a high cocaine influence on the album but it's by no means a mess. Some of the best music ever made was done under the influence. A lot of the songs are out there lyrically but that just makes me wanna listen to it more. So what if it's too long and theres a flushing toilet at the end of a song? No other band at the time would have got away with making an album like that, but Oasis did so it shows just how good they were. I would compaire What's the Story to Be Here Now track for track but I've gotta goto work! |

Sgt Peppers is an example of lyrics being out there!! yeah true, and just because a band has been great in the past doesnt give them the right to release poor albums and still be successful But i've always been a fan of the album. some great songs on it - it was way overhyped on its release, but now it is very under-rated. I just listened to it all the way through. There are some big flaws in it (i cant understand how people rate the album above DM and WTSMG) but some real standout songs. It is too long - when Don't Go Away came on it seemed like an ice age had passed since i heard the opening drums to Dya know what i mean....  There are 3 or 4 bog-standard filler tracks - to cut the album down i'd have removed two out of Girl in the dirty shirt, magic pie and fade in-out. All 3 are b-sides really Lyrically it flies from partly brilliant to largely pathetic. Too cliched. |

To be honest, I think D'You Know What I Mean has one of, if not the best lyrics ever written by Noel. Everything he says has some meaning to me.
Don't Go Away also has amazing lyrics. I still think for the most part the album was disappointing. Abit rushed, bloated, and long.

I still think for the most part the album was disappointing. Abit rushed, bloated, and long. bloated is a great word to describe it! yeah the lyrics to those two songs are the best on the album - and both are brilliant, standout songs. But like i said earlier, it seemed like ages between hearing track 1 (DYKWIM) and track 8 (dont go away) And in between those songs theres only Stand By Me which is of any real class. Most of the others are filler |

be here now started with "know what i mean" which was to me the new led zeppelin.
if they had kept that theme running through the album they would have pulled it off.
the album was a classic example of too famous too quickly.
everything is way too long on it, noels coke induced ego running wild.
didnt eric clapton once say that you write this total shit on coke and think it is brilliant but it is just shit to the outside world.
