No, Oasis aren't great. To be great you need consistency on released material - Oasis don't have this. Definetly Maybe is a classic album - sounding a tad dated now, but still good. Morning Glory was always to disjointed after they had to take the two missing tracks out - and 'She's Electric' is the biggest pile of toss. Be Here Now is way too overblown and pompous - remember Oasis were meant to be the band to take British guitar music away from all of of that cocaine fuelled shite. Standing on the... and Heathen... are so forgettable it's ridiculous - the songs are just pastiches of there stronger earlier tracks. Which leaves The Masterplan, which in my opinion is almost great, and shows the frustration that is in every earlt period Oasis fan: in 1994, this band looked set to be the best loud guitar band this country had ever produced - but they blew it, big time. The irony is, all Blur records are a progression. Granted, Leisure has many flaws, but from then onwards, it's difficult to find so many flaws on albums such as Parklife or Blur - when compared to their Oasis counterparts - Be Here Now and Heathen Chemistry (the third and fifth albums, respectively). It wasn't fashionable to be a Blur fan in the mid-nineties, the reality was for a bloke (such as me) it could be downright dangerous. Oasis just can't be considered a classic band until they fulfill the promise they (mainly Noel) hinted at in March 1994...

Well everyone has their own opinion. Loads of people will disagree with you, I for one. Oasis to me, in my eyes, are and still the best band and have had plenty of consistency throughout the years. Blur to me has done nothing to the music scene. I'm not saying Oasis have done so but there were close. Very close!!! Hey, where are Blur now?Oasis are still here, right? Still making loads of good Rock 'N' Roll classics. Well thats my opinion. Why does everyone slater BHN??? I think that album is very raw of Rock classics too. Not as good as DM though. I must admit i was disapointed with SOTSOG. HC is the best album so far since the release of BHN (In my eyes) Noel isn't and can't write music like he did for DM. There are more songwriters now which will prove even more consistency. Hmmm did i go off the piont there?

please don't tell me you would consider Blur a classic band then....I have many musician friends who are not big Oasis fans but consider their contributions in the 90's classic .... you know you don't have to be someones fan to appreciate their material..... i'll shut up now ;D

no,weymart isn't great. to be great you need consistencey on released material- weymart doesn't have this. he had one post on an oasis fan site stirring up s&%t, or should i say trying to stir up s&%t, now i've only just been introduced to the greatness that is "oasis" and am already finding they are one of the best, if not the best rock'n'roll band on earth, and not consistent?, excuse me but what the flamming hell are you on about, i would like to see you do better, and blur, jesus what were you smoking when your wrote that, it wasn't fashionable to be a blur fan in the mid-90's and it isn't fashionable to be a blur fan now, my opinion is get a brain mate and then you might relise that oasis are the defintion of great, rock on guys im surprised i even wrote anything as this guy's pompus arse views clearly arn't worth my time

i disagree with almost everything he said. It sounds like he`s saying Blur are a classic band and Oasis are`nt, which is just ridiculous. Graham Coxon is the only Blur member i had any respect for and he`s left them now. Heathen Chemistry is forgettable?? no chance. SOTSOG maybe is, but even still its got some great songs on it. Be Here Now is so under-rated. He says The Masterplan is almost great - they left so many of their best B-sides off, its untrue. To say Oasis have`nt lived up to the potential of their debut is also very harsh. Debuts are always impossible to repeat and thats what makes them great - oasis` debut is the best debut album ever. nuff said. Whats blur`s debut album called again?.........

i`m surprised that you like their early stuff but you don`t like Heathen Chemistry. To me its not their best album but a major improvement on SOTSOG. i like SOTSOG, especially songs like Go let it out and Sunday morning call, but in my opinion I can See a liar and Put your money where your mouth is, are probably the worst songs Noel has ever written and are the lowest point Oasis have ever sunk to. Where as the new album is definitely a return to their best.
Like the webmaster says maybe you`ll grow to like it. Give born on a different cloud another listen. Its on a different level to SOTSOG
