new single '9 crimes' is due for physical release in Ireland Nov 17th and in the UK Nov 27th on CD and 7"vinyl. The b-side on the single is 'The rat within the grain'. The track '9 crimes' is available to download digitally from a range of music sites internationally including iTunes.

anyone else gonna see him on his tour? what do you lot think of the album? for me it took a couple of listens to get into it but it has become one of my favorite albums of the year i love rootless tree at the moment. |

Who cares? His "9" is one of my best albums for 2006, it's brilliant.

Damien Rice splits from long-term vocalist  The star had been with Lisa Hannigan for six years Damien Rice has split with long-time vocalist Lisa Hannigan. The news ends a musical partnership which lasted six years, and will come as a shock to Rice's legion of fans, as Hannigan had long been an integral part of Rice's backing band, particularly in his live performances. Hannigan supplied vocals to both of Rice's two albums - 2001's 'O' and last year's '9'. An official statement read "After much thought and discussion Damien has decided that his professional relationship with Lisa Hannigan has run its creative course. As a result Lisa will not be appearing at any of the upcoming live shows. Lisa is embarking on her own artistic endeavours and there are no plans for them to work together in the foreseeable future. The current band on tour at the moment are Damien Rice, Joel Shearer, Shane Fitzsimons, Tom Osander and Vyvienne Long." Rice, meanwhile, begins his first UK tour without Hannigan at London's Carling Hammersmith Apollo tomorrow night (March 27). The show is sold out.

After parting ways with Damien Rice, the race to sign Lisa Hannigan to a solo deal is well and truly on. “If what I’ve heard is true and she’s already working on her own album, there’s going to be one hell of a bidding war,” a prominent A&R source tells Hot Press. “The four or five million people who own Damien Rice records all know who Lisa Hannigan is and what she’s about, which gives the record company who snaps her up a huge market to aim at. They’ll want to know if her writing is as strong as her voice, but otherwise it’s a no-brainer.”
The task of vetting potential suitors falls to Damien Rice’s manager, Bernadette Barrett, who’s indicated that she’ll continue to represent Hannigan.

I can hear eva's heartbeats are going faster... Unfortunatelly I have to miss him next month again as I have Moz next day. The tickets were sold out within 5 minutes. Hopefully he'll go more gigs next year! |
