BUMP
"Legally", it was 'Guns N' Roses - Greatest Hits' compilation from Woolworths. I think I had managed to narrow it down to 2 CDs and my Dad gave the final nod of approval to the aforementioned.
However potentially before then (though maybe after, I forget?) I slowly pieced together a few albums song by song using Limewire. 'Nirvana - Nevermind', 'Oasis - (What's The Story) Morning Glory?' and probably some Red Hot Chili Peppers record being the earliest I remember.
Amazing how little things change sometimes, huh?

Speaking of which, the first album I actually bought was Californication by the Chilis. That was back in February of last year, and on that same day, with that same purchase, I also picked up By the Way. Needless to say, the drive home from the record store was awesome. (Since that day, I've purchased 19 more CD albums, including 3 more from RHCP, 4 from Oasis, 2 from R.E.M., 2 from Weezer, 2 from the Foo Fighters, and both of Noel's solo albums.)

World71R, Californication is a great return after the critically slammed One Hot Minute, which I actually liked, except one song: One Big Mob. Fuckin' hate that song. Warped, however is just a freakin JAM. But the problem with Californication for me was its excessive loudness, as it is one of the more well known cases of the brickwalling(aka loudness war). That CD made my speakers crackle even more than Morning Glory ever did. And even that album is almost just as loud as Californication, believe it or not. Still a great CD that got me into the Chilis nevertheless though. Love that distorted bass line in Around the World. Man... Flea can really play that bass man.

Last February seems like yesterday to me... I probably brought mine somewhere between around 2005-2007. A pretty solid starting point I think! Since then it's gone largely like this: Earliest Stuff I Liked) Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns N' Roses (Greatest Hits), Oasis (WTSMG), Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd (DSOTM), The Zutons, Boston (Debut)... Early Finds) The White Stripes, Gorillaz, Sex Pistols, Kasabian... Later Finds) Pixies, Frank Black, The Breeders, Nine Inch Nails (TDS, PHM), Them Crooked Vultures, Queens of the Stone Age (SFTD), Primal Scream (Screamadelica), Radiohead (TB, OKCP,KA)... More Recent Stuff) Mclusky, Future of the Left, NGHFB, Beastie Boys (LTI, PB), Sugar, Shellac, Death Grips...

I've heard a lot about them, but have ever really dove into either's work at all. (Btw, that Boston debut album is unbelievable. I'm thinking of picking up next time I see it in the store just from looking at all the brilliant songs that were jam packed on to that album.)

So how are Primal Scream and Death Grips? I've heard a lot about them, but have ever really dove into either's work at all. Well the early 2 or 3 Primal Scream are good if you like a cover band of the rolling srones doing originals, Screamadelica IS AMAZING you should listeb to it ASAP, a certain Noel Gallagher nicked a solp from this albun for one of his classics, from there, the next one is so so, I havent heard fully vantage point butblove the opener, XTRMNTR is great but could lose one remix and would be better and I dunno aboit the rest.

Can't really remember, but it must have been some Great Hits kind of album by The Rolling Stones which starts "Let's Spend The Night Together" (and the second track was Ruby Tuesday which I listened to again and again) or one of the albums by Shoking Blue cos I wanted to play "Venus". I did buy one LP by Shoking Blue in my local record shop, not knowing that album doens't include "Venus".
I "borrowed" some money from my mum to buy Setting Sons by The Jam, but never paid her back just like so many other things... and my parents got mad at me as I played my records so loud in my room every day.

Well I wouldn't exactly recommend Death Grips, who are hard to pin down style wise, but I'd definitely seek out some of Primal Scream's work for sure. Like Scott Pilgrim is... "BLEH..." said, Screamadelica & a large proportion of XTRMNTR are worth a check as are many of their singles from other albums. There are a few decent Stones-esque songs worth checking on Riot City Blues too.

I wanna say it was Nevermind by Nirvana on cassette tape but maybe that was the first CD I purchased. It might have been the Young Guns 2 soundtrack. Whoa I was hip....

The first LP I bought was The Stone Roses on brown vinyl. I'd bought plenty of U2 CDs previously but I can't remember which ones so for the purposes of this thread I'll go with The Stone Roses.

My dad gave me all Oasis albums up to DBTT and the singles box set from DM and WTSMG, aswell as a few bootlegs. Those were the first I owned but the first I purchased myself was The Stone Roses.

The first CD I bought was Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, believe it or not. As for my first LP, L.A. Woman by the Doors.

Okay...my first one was Elephunk by The Black Shite Peas and I'm not proud of that...infantile foolishness. God, children are truly "little idiots" as Noel once very fittingly put it

I didn't understand a word when I got that album though, I have to say! I think they've gotten worse and worse. I gotta feeling? Do it, let's do it, let's do it blablabla. And people listen to that today
