I looooooooooove Janis Joplin. she really put the women in the rock world and every other who came after should thank her for opening the road to the rest and changing the concept of rock & roll

Stevie Nicks is my all time favorite. Also like Sheryl Crow, Heather Nova, Annie Lennox, Sade, Sarah McLachlan, Fiona Apple, Alanis, to name a few.
Janis Joplin is a legend! absolutely.

janis joplin, debbie harry, karen o (yeah yeah yeahs)... us females are lacking in the rock scene but i think all that could easily change and soon there will be a lot more of us went see 'the suffrajets' lastnight...all girl rock/punk...very good stuff, and lots of talent. Gemma from babyshambles is their drummer i hope they go far anyway.

I think Women have played a great role is music and rock. I just don't think some of these guys have taken a chance at listening to some of them. If they did, i think they would change their views.

you're right, some of them are great and have influenced many people... for example the kills are mainly influenced by PJ Harvey, she's worked with josh homme for the desert sessions and brian molko's always saying how great she is... she's the first woman who has won the mercury price and many of her albums are considered as part of rock history...

It's such a shame but there really hasn't been that many important female artists over the years. Debbie Harry for me is one of the greatest frontpeople in a band ever. & PJ harvey fucking rocks, plus gives me the biggest stiffys
