I wasn't even a member of this forum when this thread was started, so thanks Officer Jim Kurring for bumping it. Joe Strummer is my hero since my teenage days. Here's my all time favourite The Clash songs: 1. White Man In Hammersmith Palais 2. Stay Free 3. All The Young Punks (New Boots and Contracts) 4. London Calling 5. Janie Jones 6. Remote Control 7. Train In Vain 8. Capital Radio 9. What's My Name 10. Bankrobber To me, White Man In Hammersmith Palais is one of the greatest songs ever written in this modern music history, same as Ghosts by The Jam.

There's a pretty decent cover of the Libertines doing Janie Jones with Mick Jones somewhere out there...hard to beat the original of course, but its a nice cover.
It's actually by 'Babyshambles' but you get the idea.

I was so caught up in "being a mod" at the time, that I didn't allow myself to really love The Clash. So tribal back then.
After The Jam split in 1982, I grew up (a bit) and let in a lot of other stuff. Top 5?
1.White Man ... 2.Rudy Can't Fail 3.Train In Vain (best hidden track of all time?) 4.Lost in the Supermarket 5.Somebody Got Murdered
Produced such a wide range of music. Tomorrow, my list would be completely different.

It's unique that these songs on your list above are sung by Mick Jones except White Man... Love "Sing Micheal Sing" by Strummer in the start of Rudy Can't Fail. I still have London Calling LP which my dearest late mum saved for me after all those years. A double LP for the price of one, it was something what Joe Strummer would do and he did it, even with their following up Sandinista which was a triple LP. The youngest son of a diplomat could never become rich.

I love the Clash, especially their first three albums. The Joe Strummer doco and radio show was very enjoyable too, I recommend watching if you haven't already
My top five would probably be along the lines of 1) Rudie Can't Fail 2) Safe European Home 3) Clampdown 4) Remote Control 5) Wrong 'em Boyo
