I'm saying no
other debut bands have been better, such as the kooks and kasabian...hard fi arnt bad either
i just cant see AMs having the success Oasis and other big band have had....
they put out a decent album at best, that got blown way out of proportion

Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring us, but I love A. Monkeys. I think they'er great.
live4evr, Stop compare them to Oasis or to any other bands. You can't have the band like Oasis every year. Gallagher brothers knew the right time to gave the birth to this one of the greatest bands in the world.

The Kooks?
AMs have better lyrics than the Kooks, but the Kooks sound much better...AMs sound hollow to me

Kasabian's debut shits all over AM

imo Mardy Bum and A Cetain Romance are two of the best songs released in a long time. the thing with the monkeys is that people are not paying attention to the music but to all the hype around them and it does no good to them. the music can take all the hype (I mean the debut) but people are just waiting to see if they'll make it or not

Kasabian's debut shits all over AM Agreed. But then again, its 2 completely different sounds so ya can't really compare no? I like AM...I just don't think they'd be around much longer...the cracks are already there (losing a band member this early on, lack of personality, etc.).

well oasis lost a member only 8 months after DM's release and look how far they've come..... maybe you're right about the personality but then again they're just some blokes that 6 months ago were very low profile guys, just your average kid in a band and now the media comes and says they're saviours of british rock, which is bollox btw, so it's hard to handle

how can anyone live up to that hype?
personally I don't dig their tunes because they all pretty much sound the same to me when they're played live..... and they're all about fucking clubbing.

to Live4ever I didnt mind HardFi, i thought they had a few good singles and did the job Ok, but i saw them live recently, and it was by far and away the worst live performance i've ever had to endure (in farness the wind was blowing their sound all over the place, the lead singer was a Ron Jerarmy of a Penis, which i couldnt get past, also i was wet, cold and sober) Kasibian - too much of their stuff sounds the same, and that will cripple them on the third album i think these cold monkeys might just live up, im not a huge fan, but all there stuff dosent sound the same, theyre very clever and put on a good show, i see no reason for them to faulter just yet

Their album is good. Their demos are epic. Who the fuck are arctic monkeys EP was great. B-sides are good.
Shy frontman. Band members just out of teen years. New Single August 12th. I like em. It's good to hear something like them everynow and then. It may be in small dosages for you but I'm addicted to them at the moment. Alex Turner can write great lyrics too. Read the lyrics to the song Who The Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys and you'll see how he thinks of the hype.

The other members become somewhat like non-entities (hence, replaceable). Alex Turner just blends in with the rest of the band...that can't be good in the long run. The media/fans can be fickle...u need that larger than life attitude inorder to stay "hot". Talent alone can't carry you in this industry. If that weren't true then we wouldn't be bombarded with the Paris Hilton & Britney Spears fembots selling millions of records & magazines in this world.

I think they're level headed enough to take the whole thing in their stride. As for just outright taking over the world the way Oasis did it, I don't know that they have the sound for it.
I love the music none the less...
What I think should be good if the rest of the album has the quality of the single, is the new Killers album. Pain in the ass it doesn't come out till october though

I'm DYING to get it! A massive Northern American tour is in the works beginning in November. Apparently, the whole month of October will be spent touring Europe.

Well it's for sure that'll be one tour I won't miss But I still can't believe how good that track is. I remember the first time I heard it I was blown away because I was worried it wasn't going to be any different, but it's actually superb. Still can't believe they released it FOUR MONTHS before hand
