I hate thos wristbands...
youll never see mee with something like that...
I hate all these kind of things that are only fashionable for a small period, hypes...

they arent really supposed to be fashionable. they are too show people what causes you stand for etc..

I know, youre right...
But the point is that they ARE fashionable, wether it was meant to be or not. And why would you want to show what cause you stand for? Ive done (small) donations plenty of times for cancer, but why would i want to show off to other people: "look at me being a good human being".
Im not trying to insult anyone here by the way, but its just my opinion.
Its not that i hate the people that wear these things (my girlfriend has 4 of em), i just think that the majority of the wristband-wearers dont wear them to show how much they care, but to show that they also have a wristband that everyone wants to have...
And this is mostly whats going on with hypes...
I dont knowhow to explain this, but i hope you all get my point...
cheers

The wristbands have become a trend. Theyre in the name of good causes so id never complain about them but they are a trend, the latest fashion accessory or whatever you want to call them. it is good that donating to charity is being made more appealing to young people. But personally its not for me and i wouldnt wear one for the same reasons as you eggy. however i would wear the blue anti-bullying one. not sure if its anywhere else apart from the UK? but to me that is sending a worthwhile message out (its great to see high profile footballers like steven gerrard wearing one) rather than just saying 'hey look at me, im a nice charitable person'..... If they brought out one supporting the tsunami appeal - i wouldnt get it. nor would i get a Hillsbrough one.

there are different ones in every country. -for breast-cancer -for senseless violence (which is a hot item nowadays in holland, cuz people get kicked to death, for literally nothing here) -for just cancer -one called "respect to all" which says it all... but by the way, she got them from america, so maybe their not available in holland and DS, i dont think id wear one for bullying also, cuz i dont think it helps. just realy doing things against it, like helping the bullied ones, will make you a way better person... and for the: ok firstly - change your damn sig eggy mate! its annoying the hell out of me..... Did you mean the wrong link? is this better? it gives you something to think about (which can also drive you crazy, i know it drove ME to insanity...). But if I ever mention it drives people totaly crazy when i have this link-sig, then, of course, ill make one...

i have one of those blue bands. got it for a friend of mine. i heard that those INCREASE bullying in the playground as bullys think theyre gay so they jibe you about it, and they got stolen alot and as for the livestrong ones i agree with eggymanos. it annoys the hell out of me how people buy them not beacuse of the charitbale reasons, but to look cool and fit in with their mates. now obviously this is a good thing as it gets the charity more money, but it just annoys me massively when people have got one....and they dont know what it stands for..."iv'e just got one cos my mates got one"

if you want to support, than donate some bucks to a fund. dont show off with it. Could not agree more it's nice that your giving to cancer and what not but honestly now they're just a fashion item for prepie teenagers. Like this weekend I flew down to Maryland where my folks and my kid sister live and she has one but she didn't even pay for it.
